Holy Moly indeed,

Buy 2 totes get the 3rd 1/2 off. I’m not sure how long I’ll keep this sale going so jump on the wagon!

I filled this morning with lots of estate sales and found some really great things. An old vintage ship, an old royal hallmark bracelet (wearing as I type), mushroom prints from the 70’s :)  and lots of odd and ends.

I’m attempting to fill up my side experiment PackRatParty, with some new things it just seems like it’s taking forever! But give me a little more time and I think I’ll have finally figured out a way to manage it all.

Expect lots of random vintageness to appear in there very soon! I’m also separating with some awesome vintage buttons I’ve collected over the years. I always pick them up places, thinking I’ll find a new project to use them in, but they always just end up thrown in the sewing box and forgotten about.

To start off my tube ramblings:

How wonderful was the first episode of Pushing Daisies last week? I just melted. The colors, the clothes, the fast talking! I couldn’t stop thinking about it until tonight when the second episode came on, and it did not dissapoint! And of course wednesdays also mean Project Runway. Tonight Tim visited everyone in their hometowns and looked at their designs. Every designer had to make a wedding dress that was influenced by their line. And I have fallen head over .. flats.. for this one by my favorite designer Kenley:

This dress SCREAMS SJP on sex and the city. I would definitely wear this dress, minus the birds nest on top (maybe a smaller version would be okay) and those ugly shoes.

I had the greatest weekend. Went to see eagle eye for the second time, then hopped on over to the Oktoberfest at the DAI ( Dayton Art Institute), enjoyed some of the lovely fall weather, and had some much needed friend time.

Thats all for now. I have some new designs up in the shop, I’ll try and post pictures soon.

Good night!

Hello Job. . .

Hello furnished apartment . . .

Hello Paycheck . . .

Hello World . . .

I’m now a Pier 1 Employee! I can guarantee 60% of my paychecks will be spent on anything and everything there.  Best part of all It’s located right next to Starbucks, as if my world could get any better.

I also just started up a vintage store online.. check out the Pack Rat Party! It’s not fully stocked yet but as soon as I get time it will be.

I’d go the whole wide world…

Hello Fall…

And how can you tell it’s fall?

With Fall comes the return of my favorite shows:

The Office (finally – yahoo for Jim & Pam)

Ugly Betty

30 Rock – not on yet but soon

Pushing daisies- I literally get goose bumps as soon as I see the previews for the second season.

I am so excited for the return of this show. If you haven’t been able to check it out, you must give it a chance!

I haven’t been able to ring in the fall season with some spiced apple cider yet, but I did get to go scarf shopping. Out with the summer wardrobe and in with the sweaters, jackets, scarves, boots, flats, and berets!

Let’s play catch-up. Here’s list of happenings that have kept me busy:

*Opening an online vintage shop soon

*Thifting/Estate sales (I just bought a pair of vintage Dior glasses for 50 cents and was able to turn around and sell them for $156!)

*Job interviews.. everywhere. But I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Pier 1. I wish there was an anthropologie closer to where I live. I’m obsessed with that store. I think its responsible for career move #67234782 of wanting to be an interior designer.

*Eagle Eye, I saw it Friday night and it wasn’t bad. Apparently I was gasping and holding my hands to my mouth (but I don’t remember any of that).

*Went to a party last night and danced like a floozy with two left feet.

*Mixing up the wardrobe!

*Getting free coffee three times in the past week from Starbucks. Thank you coffee men for the freebies!

*Crunching leaves under my feet almost everyday

*Met the most adorable Bulldog last weekend

*Hanging out with friends

*Watched the Godfather the other day. *sigh*

*Playing the uke. I found an old how to play manual from the 60’s and I’m getting the hang of it finally.

*Coming up with new designs and crafting like the dickens.

With all that said I’m off. . . .

To watch Desperate Housewives tonight or not to watch Desperate Housewives tonight, that is the question.

The summer is dwindling down,

and I cannot tell you how happy I am that Fall is just around the corner! I can smell it, taste it, hear the leaves crumbling under my feet. This year has flown by so fast. Normally I would be a little upset that I wasn’t really productive this summer and that I didn’t accomplish much, but I’m not. I loved just sitting back and watching everyone live their lives. Everyone seems to have changed a little bit since the beginning of the year, some for the better and others for worse.

To catch up from the last month this is whats filled my time lately:

Radiohead. Such an amazing show! Definitely worth the drive.

The Victoria Theatre downtown has started showing old movies during the summer from june til august.

It’s such a beautiful place. I can’t wait to go again next year. Seeing my favorite old films on the big screen like that, I feel like I’ve been placed in another time, seeing them how they were intended to be seen. I get all warm and fuzzy. Everytime I watch the couples, old and young. They’re always so cute.

They had some great movies this summer but I could only make it out for two of them.

The first, Roman Holiday. Vespas, Audrey Hepburn, and Gregory Peck… it’s definitely a favorite.

And second: A Hard Days Night

I’d never seen it before, and even though it’s a little scattered, I fell in love even more with them.

For - Like - Ever

Sorry to be M.I.A. for so long! I had been getting everything ready for the craftin’ outlaws fair in Columbus. And I’m glad to say that all the late nights, all the mess ups, all the ironing, and all the paper cuts payed off. Thanks so much to everyone who stopped by! This was my first show and I cannot wait to do it again. Thanks for making it so great! Unfortunately I don’t have any good pictures of my booth or the whole show but as soon as I find some I’ll share. I’ve also put a few onesies and t-shirts up in the shop since they did so well at the show.

Has anyone seen the cover of the Sept. Domino Issue? I’m swooning over it. This issue is a must have! The colors and India-inspired fabrics and displays are right up my alley.

Be back soon with a real post and more pictures!

Xx

This morning I woke up with a passion for cleaning, doing laundry, and cooking.

My universe has gone Topsy Turvy. But I feel like this week I’ve been more myself than I have been for months! Thanks to these little ladies I had a wonderful Monday

We went to the “stage park” (as they call it) where sometimes in the summer there will be bands playing, but it’s usually empty. We always put on a show when no one’s there and then roam around on the paths. They have the greatest imaginations, I hope they never lose them. We were walking past the pond and Maddie swore she saw anacondas and crocodiles, and before you know it we were in the Amazon, then on a safari in South Africa, and then back in Ohio.

We had a tea party as well that day but I forgot to bring my camera along. I can remember all the times I did stuff like this when I was little. I had the greatest childhood thanks to two parents who always encouraged being outside or using your imagination rather than being sat in front of the t.v. all day.

On the way back home Maddie goes “Jess, this was like the best day of my life” and I melted a little.

I’ve been thrifting almost everyday, and I have found soooo many things for either displays, to sell, or just vintage goodies! I’m sure I’ll have more pictures to share soon.

Get back to where you once belonged

The anniversary party went wonderfully! It was all in the theme of their favorite restaurant from way back when (Annarinos) So that meant italiana to the max. We were even able to get a hold of the old menus, band set lists, the exact music, and recipes, so the food was fantastic. 60 years :)

Aren’t they adorable??

The weather has been sinfully hot this past week. *Curse you Global Warming* I spent 4 hours out in it this morning and have decided for the remainder of the day to stay indoors. Well maybe until tonight (friends cookout).

I went thrifting the other day to look for anything and everything I can make into displays and found some really great pieces. I’m going to repaint them and clean up a few things then I’ll probably put some pictures up. I LOVE my salvation army here! I walk in empty handed and walk out with handfuls and occasionally cartfuls. My biggest weakness is the furniture.. theres so many great pieces that you can recover, and lots where a little paint and varnish would spruce them right up. I haven’t bought my old school desks yet since theres some serious lack of space in my part of the garage but as soon as theres room at least 3 are mine.

Of course you always have to mix business with pleasure so while there I found what I call a “bubble photo” it’s the old photos on that cardboard backing where it kind of pops out and is rounded from side profile.

I’m having trouble figuring out where it was taken. Everything is in english, but that huge monument thing in the back has thrown me off. First guess was San Fran but I don’t think thats right…

I also found this:

It made my heart pitter patter.

Last year in my printing class I was able to make some business cards in 5 different designs. I think I made over 600, and as of today I’m officially out. Thankfully my vista print cards came in the mail today. I hate that I didn’t make them myself but they’ll do until I can sneak back into the digital printing room. Vista Print was having a special where I could get 250 (I think thats what i ordered) cards with blank backs for a ridiculously low price. Mine were $3.99 plus shipping and tax which brought the total to $16.99. And I was able to upload one of my original designs onto the front, unfortunately you can only do one design per batch.

I can’t wait to make some of my own again. Anyways, I’ve been up to my knees in epoxy gunk for the past two weeks. But the more I put into something the more I get out of it, so that better prove true for the show. My inventory is getting HUGE!

Speaking of which I just restocked totes and pins at Krafthaus Gallery in downtown Cinci, so if you’re in the area check it out. I brought some new designs. Even some that haven’t appeared in the shop yet!

And in just 22 days! Prepare yourselves!

Crossing it off the list

The Northern Lights (something I have always wanted to see) might actually be visible when we head up to Canada! The more north you are the clearer, so we might take a little trip after we’ve reached Montreal. This trip seems to be getting better and better.

The grandparents 60th is this saturday so I’ve been baking and decorating galore. It’s preparing me for next weeks Bridget Jones party. Ha, yes.. Bridget Jones. What better excuse for a girls night is there?? I’m sure I’ll have lots of pictures after next weekend to share!

Introducing the fruits of my boredom:

I should haev it up in the shop within the next few days

Off to the bookstore today or tomorrow to pick up:

  • Penelope- My one guilty pleasure
  • Soundtrack to My Blueberry Nights
  • Franny & Zooey

time is all we’ve got.

Melancholy Bliss

Mondays aren’t my fun days. Everyone has left to go back home and I’m here alone, lonely to a new degree. I guess it helps though that I have a million things to get done for the craftin’ outlaws fair, so I’m keeping busy. As of this past weekend: fantastic. I’ve passed the trolley stop so many times and had never gone in, but Linds and I decided to give it a try and it has become as much of a favorite as Thai 9.

Really cute courtyard too. I’m not a fan of eating outside but this was perfection. While we were around the area we thought we’d look for a house or apartment, it never hurts to look! But I have the habit of falling in love with something the minute I see it. My newest must have is this fixer upper:

Stained glass, and all wooden floors! It even has a little iron gate. I love love love this place. It needs a little work cutting back all the overgrown plants and clearing out some things, but this house has major potential.

huff. Something to work towards I suppose.

Have a lovely Monday!
